Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble is the premier concert band offered at Azle High School, under the direction of Greg Davis. This ensemble competes in UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest in April of every year as a Varsity ensemble. Selection to the Wind Ensemble is by audition only and is highly selective. The Wind Ensemble regularly performs band literature similar to what one might hear from major university concert bands, and the rigor is exceptional. All students in the Wind Ensemble are required to audition for the TMEA All-Region Band, as well as perform a Class I Solo and Ensemble in the Azle Solo and Ensemble Contest.
Symphonic Band I
The Symphonic Band I is the Non-Varsity concert band at Azle High School, under the direction of Matt Assis. This ensemble competes in UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest in April of every year. Selection to the Symphonic Band I is by audition only and offers a similar rigor to that of the Wind Ensemble. This group performs advanced high school and early collegiate level repertoire. All students in the Symphonic Band I are expected to prepare the audition music for the TMEA All-Region Band, as well as participate in the Azle Solo and Ensemble Contest.
Symphonic Band II
The Symphonic Band II is the Sub Non-Varsity ensemble at Azle High School, under the direction of Greg Davis and Matt Assis. This ensemble competes in UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest in April of every year. Selection to the Symphonic Band II is by audition only and offers a similar rigor to that of the Symphonic Band I. This group performs intermediate high school literature. All students in Symphonic Band II are encouraged to audition for the TMEA All-Region Band, as well as required to participate in the Azle Solo and Ensemble Contest.
